For this evening, I wanted to feature a #SciFUnd project that brings together biology and engineering – the Magnetic Nerve Stimulator Prototype by Eric Basham.

Eric is trying to develop a low-cost instrument that will stimulate nerve tissue in small animals – worms! It’s a cool project that will create a tool for scientists to investigate the mysteries of the nervous system.

And that’s why I love this project – it’s both practical and applied. It’s an innovative project building a new tool that’s use will extend beyond Eric’s lab. It’s one of those seed projects who’s implications can extend out quite far.

So go and take a look and help build the prototype!
