#SciFund Challenge Class

Creating posters that stand out from the crowd and get you noticed

Hello person! Right here on this page, we'll be working together through some of the mysteries of science communication. We think (hope) you'll get a lot out of reading this - but (there's always a but) may we suggest that you consider taking one of our (cheap) online communication classes, where we plunge yet further into the inky depths of science communication. The big bonus with them is that our classes are very collaborative, which is a huge assist when you're making your way through this kind of thing. Sign up for our exciting, delighting email list to keep in the loop! Anyway, on with the show.

Salutations to you, distinguished researcher. So, you've got a scientific conference coming up where you have to present a poster. Or maybe you just want to know how to put together a scientific poster the right way. Well, good luck has shone down on you, as you have stumbled upon SciFund Challenge's guide to creating science posters. After going through the material here, you'll have learned how to put together a fantastic poster. This guide assumes that you have no knowledge in either the layout or layout software department - we'll walk you through all of it, step by step.

The length of time that it will take you to complete this guide will obviously depend on your circumstances. However we can roughly estimate that it would probably take you between 10-15 hours to complete all of the exercises here.

By the way, this guide was adapted from a course on scientific poster design that SciFund Challenge teaches. The material for the course was co-developed by Zen Faulkes, nueroethologist to the stars at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. You owe it to yourself to check him out on Twitter and on Better Posters (his fabulous blog on academic poster design).

And, we're off to the races!
