Welcome to Week 5 of the 2015 SciFund Challenge Introduction to Outreach class. Sadly, this is our last week. But the fun doesn’t stop here, as there are lots of SciFund classes coming, as well as other ways to keep participating.
This week, the workload this week is lower than usual, as many are still working on their Ignite talks from last week and perhaps on things from previous weeks. We still have something new for you this week though.
This week, the focus is on images. Why images? Because for almost any outreach you do in the future, using better images will make your outreach more effective. For example, if you are giving a public talk, showing your audience compelling images will make it more likely that your audience will pay attention. If you are interested in creating outreach-oriented videos, incorporating eye-catching images will likely mean that more people will watch your videos. If you are thinking about any sort of outreach-oriented writing (such as blogs, magazine articles, or books), including great images will make your writing more effective and more likely to be read.
One last thing. By images, we mean any static visual representation (such as photos, illustrations, graphics, and maps).
